Evacuation Order issued for Old Fort area

Current situation
The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) has issued an Evacuation Order for the Old Fort area due to landslide. This landslide is creating a significant risk to life and safety. Sections of Old Fort Road have been destroyed.
The road remains closed to the public and road access to Old Fort is no longer considered safe. An Evacuation Alert is also in effect for areas west and north of the Evacuation Order.
Emergency Support Services (ESS) are available for evacuated residents of Old Fort. Only residents who are in the Evacuation Order area are eligible for ESS.

Recommended actions

Follow all directions from officials:
If you are in the area under Evacuation Order, you are at risk.
If you are still in the area:
- Stay in a safe location
- Avoid the landslide and surrounding debris — the area is very dangerous
- Do not approach, stop, or park near the landslide or beyond traffic control
- Conserve essential supplies
- Be ready for further instructions
- Call 9-1-1 if you are in immediate danger.
There is currently no safe road access, and travel into the area is not permitted.
Register for:
Emergency Support Services (ESS) for short-term basic support.
- Emergency Support Services are available for evacuated residents, contact ESS at 250-219-5210.
- Evacuated residents will continue to receive ESS assistance until the Evacuation Order is lifted.

- Emergency services are currently unable to access the area due to the road closure and ongoing landslide.
