Evacuation Alert issued for Old Fort area

Current situation
The Peace River Regional District has issued Evacuation Alert #1 for some properties in the Old Fort area due to landslide. Anyone in the affected area must be ready to leave on short notice.
Construction of a temporary access surface across the landslide area is now complete, and Old Fort Road reopened at 12 pm on May 21, 2026.
Evacuation Alert # 1 and Evacuation Alert #2 are in place as a precaution until permanent road access is established across the landslide area.
Recommended actions
Follow all directions from officials:
If you are in the area under Evacuation Alert, be ready to leave on short notice.
Wait for an Evacuation Order to be issued before evacuating. Monitor www.prrd.bc.ca for information on evacuation orders and location of Reception Centres.
Do not approach, stop, or park near the landslide or beyond traffic control.
Arrange transportation for all your household members. Fill the gas tanks of personal vehicles. If transportation assistance is needed, call 1-800-670-7773.
