Just before 6 a.m. April 9, the City of Vancouver was alerted to a bunker oil spill from a ship in English Bay.
The Coast Guard is managing the clean up. Boaters and watercraft operators should stay away from the area and residents are advised to stay clear of the water and shoreline (wet sand).
If you see any of the fuel wash up on shore, do not touch it. It’s toxic. Instead, call the Coast Guard at 1-800-889-8852.
