RESCINDED: Evacuation Order by the City of Kamloops for area of 5225 Southern Yellowhead Highway. May 19, 2017

The City of Kamloops has rescinded the evacuation order for 5225 Southern Yellowhead Highway (Ramage Road) residents.

The decision to rescind the evacuation order came as a result of geotechnical experts’ analysis of the Palmer-Forsyth slope indicating the following conditions have been met:

  • no observed or interpreted imminent threat from the hillside
  • ground movement behaviour has been controlled for a reliable period of time
  • de-watering of the slope has been effective and will continue
  • monitoring of the slope will continue

Work will continue in the slope area in the foreseeable future while the City of Kamloops, Ministry of Transportation & Infrastructure and Emergency Management BC look to long term solutions.
