An Evacuation Order and a BC Emergency Alert has been issued by the Peace River Regional District due wildfire. Impacted residents should evacuate the area immediately.

BC EMERGENCY ALERT issued by Peace River Regional District due to wildfire.
Evacuate immediately if you are in the Halfway on the Upper Halfway Road from Cameron River to the Lexau Ranch.
The Cameron River wildfire poses a threat to human life.
If you are in the evacuation order area, you must leave the area immediately and go to the Chetwynd Rec Centre in Chetwynd to register with ESS! If you are unable to evacuate call 1-800-670-7773 or 9-1-1. To reach ESS after hours call 250 556-4173. For more information go to www.prrd.bc.ca.

Evacuation Order Map for Cameron River

If you are in the impacted area:

  1. Stop what you are doing and follow the directions provided
  2. Follow all instructions from local officials
  3. Evacuation route: Evacuees should travel to Chetwynd via Highway 97 to Highway 29N.
    1. DriveBC has confirmed that Highway97 is open to single lane traffic.
  4. ESS Emergency Reception Centre: Evacuees should register at the local reception centre: Chetwynd Rec Center, 4512 N Access Rd, Chetwynd, BC.
    1. If the center is closed when you arrive, call 250-556-4173.
  5. Do not call 9-1-1 for additional information. Only call 9-1-1 if you are unable to evacuate.

This BC Emergency Alert was broadcast on compatible and connected cell phones in and near the impacted area. These messages are geographically targeted, but may also reach residents in surrounding areas. If you are not in the affected area, disregard this Alert.
