The BC River Forecast Centre has ended the High Streamflow Advisory for:
- Somass River Basin including the Ash River, Sproat River and smaller streams in the surrounding area.
Rainfall totals around central Vancouver Island over the past 24 hours has ranged from 20 to 40 mm at most BC Fire Weather Stations. River levels have eased over the past day in response to less severe rainfall.
Dry weather is expected into Saturday morning, with additional 10-40 mm of rain forecast through the remainder of the day. Temperatures are expected to drop through the weekend, with the likelihood that precipitation will all as snow over higher terrain.
Rivers are expected to see continued decline Friday into early Saturday, with modest increases later on Saturday in response to rainfall. At this time, rivers are expected to remain below levels experienced earlier this week.
The River Forecast Centre will continue to monitor conditions and will provide updates as conditions warrant.
