Grab-and-Go Video.jpg

Stay Safe in February. Prepare with Family Emergency Kits

February is the month of love. Keep your family safe by assembling a do-it-yourself emergency preparedness kit that includes a stylish, yet practical grab-and-go bag!

The grab-and-go bag will help prepare you and your loved ones for unexpected events and emergencies. If you're asked to evacuate on short notice, you could be out of your home for 72 hours or more.

Assemble a grab-and-go bag for your home, workplace and vehicle. Start by identifying the basic supplies you need and then keep then in a secure location, ideally accessible from outside your home.

Items may include:

  • Flashlight
  • Battery powered radio
  • First-aid kit
  • Multi-purpose tool
  • Cash
  • Identification
  • Prescription medication and eyeglasses
  • Personal items
  • Basic survival items such as water and energy bars
  • Garbage bag or emergency poncho

To help get you started, check-out the complete Emergency Management BC family supplies check-list.
